I’m not an Athlete or Performing Artist…
In addition to athletes and performing artists, I’ve also worked successfully with:
- High School and College students who deal with test anxiety
- High School and College students who deal with social anxiety
- Business professionals who struggle with fear of public speaking
Regardless of the type of performance, the underlying causes are often caused by common challenges. Over the last 20 years, neuroscience researchers have made monumental progress in understanding the connection between the mind, body, and emotions. In a nutshell, the new brain science proves that peak performance is as much about physiology as it is about psychology.
Every day of our lives we are experience emotion, and most of the time we are not highly aware of them. Emotions are not just “feelings,” they are chemicals inside the body that are released from the hypothalamus, a tiny gland in your brain. Positive chemicals, such as excitement, happiness, fun, enthusiasm, passion, and joy strengthen your mind and body as they are released. Negative emotions, such as anxiety, fear, doubt, and anger, trigger the “fight or flight” mechanism in the sympathetic nervous system, and the negative chemicals released settle in cell receptors throughout your body. This can cause a lack of focus, loss of confidence, and fatigue just to name a few! Over time it can become a bigger problem that is triggered by situations that we perceive to be high pressure. This is where the new science comes in. If you are trying to deal with a challenge such as test anxiety or fear of public speaking on a psychological level only, it’s likely you are not having as much success as you’d like because the problem also needs to be addressed at the physiological level.
Now the good news! There is a way to address the complete inner game with a leading-edge technique called EFT. Emotional Freedom Techniques® (EFT) is a very effective self-help tool. EFT, in conjunction with coaching, is a powerful system that students perform better at school and in their daily lives. My role as a Performance Coach is to educate students about EFT, teach them the techniques, and coach them as they master the skills they are putting into practice.
The first step is a free evaluation by phone. We will discuss your goals and the issues you’re interested in resolving. I’ll ask questions, clarify your desired outcome, and make sure we are a good fit for one another before we begin. I will share with you how the program works, and answer any questions you may have. After I have gathered information from you, I’ll recommend the appropriate coaching program for your desired outcome. If you are a student I will include parents in our initial consultation.
Please Note: EFT is intended to be an addition to your training regimen. It is not meant to replace any coaching, conditioning, nutrition, health care, or any other therapy that adds to your athletic performance. Further Brenda Cordle is not a licensed healthcare professional. She is a Certified Emotional Freedom Techniques® Practitioner and offers EFT as a Performance Coach.
While Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) has produced remarkable clinical results, it must still be considered to be in the experimental stage and thus IF YOU INTEND TO USE THESE TECHNIQUES, YOU MUST AGREE TO TAKE FULL RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOURSELF WHILE APPLYING THESE TECHNIQUES. EFT is not intended to replace any relationship with a qualified health care professional and is certainly not intended as medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. If you are under the care of any health care professionals (or should be), we strongly encourage you to discuss modifications in your diet, lifestyle, exercise program, nutrition, or use of EFT with them prior to making any changes, and never discontinue or reduce prescription medications without consulting your doctor or pharmacist.
